Bye Bye Huntsville

Leipzig, 09/04/08

I am sitting in my room. All is so quiet. There are not my team members. There is not the landscape of Huntsville. I look around and I miss every thing.

Right: Just don´t lose track of the things.

Before two day, we are starting at 10 o’ clock in the morning with the car. We drive to the airport. Mrs. Headrick is also there because she has the suitcases with pieces of the Moonbuggy. She is sad like the whole team. I can see it in their eyes. We put give our suit-case off in the Check-In. Then we go to our gate. There in a little souvenir shop, we meet a woman who is also from Germany. While Mr. Heckel is talking with her and packing a piece for his power mower, we are playing with small toys like small children. At 12 o’ clock our voyage begins. I was very sad. I won’t leave Huntsville, not yet. Our team growed so much together and know we must leave almost carefree world? We fly through the white clouds and blue sky. I dream of the nice week in Huntsville… Suddenly I realized the landing of the plane and woke up of my dreams in Atlanta.

On the airport we eat something from the restaurant “Panda Express”. It was Chinese food and delicious but not enough for our big hunger. But afterwards we must enter the train. Germany is coming closer and closer. Ten hours flight is before us. Ten hours that we could enjoy in Huntsville. The weather is nice. No rain and clouds like the last days, only sunshine. At 4.35 pm the plane takes off. I look out of the window and think: “Goodbye Huntsville…” In the flight we wait for our dinner, after eating we sleep, talk a little bit when we wake up and just enjoy the last hours together. In the morning of Germany we get our breakfast. At 7.53 am (time of Germany) on April 08, we land in Düsseldorf.

Below: Waiting for the flight back to Germany.

The first aspects, we see are grey, sad, no smiling and helpful people. We take our luggage and go to the train station. From there we go to Dortmund and from there with the IC to Leipzig. Fortunately, the track was the same. In the plane, we talk about the last week a little bit and we are very excited to see our family. But the first thing we do is sleeping…

Right: Back in Germany.

Then we see Leipzig. In 25 minutes we reach the station. We can’ realize it. It passes all to fast. We get out of the train and see our parents. They are so happy. We too, but in our minds is Huntsville, the great city with so many memories.

Afterwards we go at home. We had so much to tell, but we are all so sleepy, that we sleep at 10 pm and wake up at midday or later today.

And now I am sitting here and thinking of the great time in Huntsville. Next year, I will come back!
