The College Division Race

Huntsville, 05/04/08

We get up at 8 am. We are all very tired because of the last day, the Moonbuggy Race. But today is also a race, the College Division Moonbuggy Race. The whole team is excited to see the Buggy of the older student teams. So we hurry up in the morning. We go to the Space&Rocket Center. There we rebuild our tent and park the Moonbuggy, which we must take from the Davidson Center, under it, so that the College Students can see it. We look to the teams and their Moonbuggys.

Right: Just don´t close your eyes.

At 11 o’ clock we meet the woman who made the appointment for the Multi Axes Simulator yesterday because I asked. After 10 minutes we go to the whole where they have many training machines for the astronauts. All of us do the simulator but Philipp gets a little bit sick, so gets off after the first minute. The others do it 1.45 minutes. It was really funny because it was unique experience for us in Huntsville.

Afterwards the team split into two groups. One group rest in the Space Center and write their reports, while Alex filmed the starts of the College teams. Markus, me, Mr. Heckel and Prof. Dr. Freiherr von Puttkamer go to a lunch with an American-German-Society. We are in a restaurant with very well food. In the assembly we talked with the families. Two families are coming with us to the Moonbuggy. They were very impressed and maybe we have now some new sponsors and volunteer to help us.

At 12.45 we are already in the Center. Now Markus and I write the reports of the last day but we have no time to finish it because after a couple of hours comes Mr. Headrick with his trailer to take the Moonbuggy to the house. The team goes to the Von Braun Center. There is Konrad Dannenberg, who build also rockets. We have a nice dinner with salad, meat and cake and we have a stand, where are our prospects, cards, pictures and the Moonbuggy of course.  But the event takes a lot of time, till midnight. So we go after the reading of Konrad Dannenberg, I go with Mr. Heckel to him and give some photos as a present.

Then we go to the hotel. There we finish the reports and observe our photos. After that the team does a small talk and we laugh so much. This evening is very funny and nice.

Above: No problem for the Moonbuggy - the city.
