Assembly Day

Huntsville, 01/04/08

This morning, we wake up at eight o' clock. A half hour later we stand up because we are to tired to go out of the bed. But we must hurry up now! Breakfast is only till nine o' clock. The boys from the other room are already standing on the door It is 8.50am when we are almost ready. Then we look for our Moonbuggy-T-Shirts. Some boys are running to the breakfast and we follow them...but it was to late. There is nothing except a little bit butter, cheese and marmalade and a crazy powder to which we must add boiled water. We eat it but nobody like it. Some of us eat it with butter and cheese and the other ones with marmalade. There are luckily also some juices and coffee.

After the breakfast which was not a real breakfast, we took some photos in front of our hotel. Later in our room, we send E-Mails to our parents and friends. At ten o' clock, we put our bags into the car where we talk about the day and then at 10.15pm our sightseeing tour begins:

We drive along the University Tribe in the direction of the center. We pass first the Monte Sano and next the Marshall Space Center and Downtown. After it we cross the Washington Square. From there we see the Huntsville Museum of Art. Afterwards we arrive to the Werner von Braun-Center. There we look a little bit around in the hall. Later we see also the ancient house of him in the Big Cove Road 1516 and the ancient house of Dr. von Braun.

After it we stop at the WAAY-Center, a TV-News-Channel. Mr. Heckel knows somebody who works there. He follows an employee while we stand at the front desk. Suddenly we look at the screen of the TV. There is Mr. Heckel, our Teamleader! We are all laughing because we did not know, that he appear in the Midday-Show of WAAY without planning. So when he comes out, he tells us, that he did not know it aswell, that he must speak now in a TV-Show. There were only some people, who gave him a mikrophone and so on. In this moment he was very confused. After this surprise, we go to a Souvenir-Shop to relax a little bit. And thereafter we visit the Davidson Space Center from the outside and we looked a little bit around the entrance. In this area we see a second Souvenir-Shop, but this time, where we can buy things from aerospace like books or keyrings.

We are very hungry now. That's why we stop at McDonald's to take our lunch.

We went afterwards to the Hadricks. There we had a drink and we begin to unpack the pieces of our Moonbuggy. After it, we construct it till 9pm. Only the Moonbuggy is finish at 6.15pm. The rest of the time, we check our telemetry and clean up our workplace. Before cleaning we eat very tasty sandwiches with tuna.

Now our Moonbuggy is ready. We return to the hotel, write our reports and go sleep
